What's a "Quad Band" Phone?

A quad band phone operates on any one of four frequencies used throughout the world.  The following frequencies are used for cell phone transmissions in the applicable regions:

      850 Megahertz (MHz) - US
      900 Megahertz (MHz) - International
      1800 Megahertz (MHz) - International
      1900 Megahertz (MHz) - US, International
